BendiStudio ships an AI assistant connection built into professional RIP software
The wide-format print, cut and design suite adds a native Model Context Protocol server, alongside a vector editor, Magic Eraser and unlimited AI image upscaling — tools that have not travelled together in production RIP software before.
September 26, 2026 — BendiRip Technologies Inc. today released BendiStudio 1.8.6, adding a native Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to its wide-format print production suite. An assistant such as Claude can now read a shop's printer status, ink levels, media profiles and job queue directly, and — with the operator's explicit confirmation — send a job to the printer or re-cut a job on the plotter.
MCP is the open standard for connecting AI assistants to software and data. It has spread quickly through developer tooling and office applications since its publication, but production print software has stayed outside it. BendiStudio is, to the company's knowledge, the first RIP to ship one in the box.
The practical effect is that an operator can ask a question in plain language — is there enough cyan for tonight's run, which jobs are still held, is this artwork sharp enough to print at eight feet wide — and get an answer from the machine itself rather than from a guess.
Built so an assistant cannot quietly spend your money
Print shops run on consumables, and a tool that starts a job spends ink and metres of media that cannot be un-spent. BendiStudio's MCP server is deliberately split in two. Sixteen tools are available; the ones that only read are free to call. The ones that put ink on media or drive the cutting blade refuse to run unless they are called with an explicit confirmation flag, and when they refuse they return a description of exactly what they would have done, so the operator sees the job before agreeing to it.
Jogging the cutter head is deliberately not exposed at all. Nudging a blade across loaded material on an assistant's initiative was judged not worth the convenience.

Design tools inside the RIP, not beside it
The MCP server lands on top of a set of tools that are themselves unusual in production print software. BendiStudio combines the RIP, the print manager, a cutting and design studio and a consumables shop in one application, and the current release includes:
- Unlimited AI image upscaling — no per-image fee — at 2×, 3× or 4×. Customers see the image rebuild itself on screen while the job runs.
- Magic Eraser for lifting a subject off its background, with the resulting edge vector-traced rather than left as a ragged pixel mask — so it survives being printed at vehicle-wrap scale.
- A vector editor with contour tracing, Bézier node editing and true curve-accurate boolean path operations, so a cut line can be drawn and corrected without leaving for a separate illustration package.
- GPU-accelerated rasterising of multiple commercial print runs at once, rather than the single-core queues much older RIP software still relies on.
Each of these exists elsewhere in the graphics industry. What is new is finding them in the software that actually drives the printer, on the same canvas as the job being ripped, instead of spread across three applications and a round trip through a design suite.
Availability
BendiStudio 1.8.6 is available now for Windows, with a macOS build for Apple silicon. AI upscaling and the Pixel Spray preview currently require the Windows build. The MCP server is installed with the application; connecting it to Claude Desktop is a single configuration entry and requires Node.js 18 or newer. Setup instructions ship with the software.
BendiStudio is in an early working beta release. Beta testers and early adopters are grandfathered in on pricing and receive extended licence discounts after launch.
